چکیده
Two-dimensional quantum systems with competing orders can feature a deconfined critical point, yielding continuous phase transition that is incompatible the Landau-Ginzburg-Wilson scenario, predicting instead first-order transition. This caused by LGW order parameter breaking up into new elementary excitations at point. Canonical candidates for criticality are antiferromagnets magnetic orders, captured easy-plane ${\mathrm{CP}}^{1}$ model. A delicate issue however numerics indicates antiferromagnet to exhibit Here we show an additional topological Chern-Simons term in action changes this picture completely several ways. We find undergoes second-order quantized exponents. Further, particle-vortex duality naturally maps partition function of one massless Dirac fermions.

Chern - Simons Theory and S - duality
We study S-dualities in analytically continued SL(2) Chern-Simons theory on a 3-manifold M . By realizing Chern-Simons theory via a compactification of a 6d five-brane theory on M , various objects and symmetries in Chern-Simons theory become related to objects and operations in dual 2d, 3d, and 4d theories. For example, the space of flat SL(2,C) connections on M is identified with the space of...
متن کاملQuantum Criticality in Quasi-Two-Dimensional Itinerant Antiferromagnets.
Quasi-two-dimensional itinerant fermions in the antiferromagnetic (AFM) quantum-critical region of their phase diagram, such as in the Fe-based superconductors or in some of the heavy-fermion compounds, exhibit a resistivity varying linearly with temperature and a contribution to specific heat or thermopower proportional to TlnT. It is shown, here, that a generic model of itinerant anti-ferroma...

A Chern-Simons action for supergravity in odddimensional spacetimes is proposed. For all odd dimensions, the local symmetry group is a non trivial supersymmetric extension of the Poincaré group. In 2 + 1 dimensions the gauge group reduces to super-Poincaré, while for D = 5 it is superPoincaré with a central charge. In general, the extension is obtained by the addition of a 1-form field which tr...
متن کاملGlobal Phase Diagrams of Frustrated Quantum Antiferromagnets in Two Dimensions: Doubled Chern-Simons Theory
We present a general approach to understanding the quantum phases and phase transitions of quantum antiferromagnets in two spatial dimensions. We begin with the simplest spin liquid state, the Z2 spin liquid, whose elementary excitations are spinons and visons, carrying Z2 electric and magnetic charges respectively. Their dynamics are expressed in terms of a doubled U(1) Chern Simons theory, wh...

A Chern-Simons gauged Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation is derived from the continuous Heisenberg model in 2+1 dimensions. The corresponding planar magnets can be analyzed whithin the anyon theory. Thus, we show that static magnetic vortices correspond to the self-dual Chern Simons solitons and are described by the Liouville equation. The related magnetic topological charge is associated with the ...
